CSUN Men's Soccer Concludes Non-Conference Slate at Saint Mary's

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--- CSUN concludes the non-conference portion of the 2021 men's soccer campaign Friday afternoon when the Matadors travel to Saint Mary's for a 4 p.m. start. Coverage will be available on the WCC Network with links on GoMatadors.com.

Saint Mary's improved to 5-3 on the year on Sept. 19 when the Gaels defeated Sacramento State 1-0. Jack Vesberg is the Gaels' leading scorer with three goals and has a team-high six points. David Brog paces the team with three assists.

Kash Oladepo entered the week 21st in Division I in shutouts with three. His .778 save percentage is 57th in D-1 this week. He is 4-2 with 21 saves in six appearances. This is the ninth meeting between the two clubs with CSUN holding a 5-3 series advantage. This is the first time since 2015 that the Matadors are playing at Saint Mary's.

After dropping a 1-0 decision to California Baptist on Sept. 17, the Matadors broke a seven-game losing streak to begin the year with a 1-0 overtime victory against Portland Monday night. Giovanni Aguilar scored the game-winner in the 97th minute. CSUN goalie David Preys recorded his fifth career shutout against the Pilots as he made two saves.

Monday night marked the fourth consecutive match in which CSUN played to a one-goal decision and it was the third consecutive 1-0 decision. Five of the eight Matadors' matches in 2021 have been decided by one goal.
