Matadors Travel to Cal State Fullerton For Regular Season Finale

The Matadors (7-5-4, 4-3-1 Big West) travel to Cal State Fullerton Saturday night to conclude the regular season.

ABOUT CSF
The Titans are 8-5-5 overall and begin the week with 12 points (3-2-3) in league play.Â
Â
Cal State Fullerton scored 10 goals against Life Pacific earlier this season. As such, the Titans led the league in goals scored with 33. Sebastian Cruz has scored a team-high eight goals and has six assists. He is second in the Big West in points scored with 22.

Tetsuya Kadono is the NCAA Division I leader in minutes played with 1,547:32. He is fourth in the conference in goals against average (1.04). His 56 saves are the fourth most in the Big West.Â

This is the 51st time that CSUN and Cal State Fullerton are playing men's soccer with the Matadors leading the all-time series 25-18-7.Â

PLAYOFF RACE
The Big West Tournament field will be determined Saturday. Â

UC Santa Barbara sits in first place to begin the week with 16 points. UC Riverside is second with 14 followed by CSUN (13) and UC Irvine (13). UCSB, UCR, the Matadors, and UCI have all clinched a spot in the Big West Tournament.Â
Â
UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Sacramento State, and UC San Diego are tied for fifth with 12 points. UCSD remains ineligible for postseason play as the Tritons continue their transition to Division I. UC Davis is eighth with 11 points.Â

Cal Poly (7) and CSU Bakersfield (1) have been eliminated from tournament contention.Â

UC Davis is at Sacramento State for a 3 p.m. start. The remaining four matches will begin at 7 p.m. UC Irvine is at UC San Diego. CSU Bakersfield is at Cal Poly. CSUN is at Cal State Fullerton. UC Santa Barbara is at UC Riverside.Â

The Matadors could end up with a seed ranging from 2-6. A CSUN win at Cal State Fullerton combined with a UC Riverside loss or tie and a UC Irvine loss or tie will clinch the No. 2 seed for the Matadors.Â

The Titans need to win or tie CSUN to clinch a spot in the postseason.Â
