Matadors Close Homestand Hosting Hawai'i on Thursday

FULL GAME NOTES
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer (2-11-1, 0-4-1 Big West) closes a three-match homestand on Thursday with a Big West match against Hawai'i at Matador Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with Ghizal Hasan on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
The Matadors dropped the first two matches of their homestand last week. CSUN would fall by a 2-0 decision to UC Santa Barbara last Thursday before losing a 3-0 match to Cal Poly on Sunday afternoon.
UCSB would ride two first-half goals in its 2-0 win over CSUN. The first strike came in the second minute of play while the Gauchos added to their lead in the 37th minute. Cindy Arteaga posted all four of the Matadors' shots on the night with two on goal in 90 minutes of action. Hayden Mauldin finished with three saves including two in a clean second half.
The Matadors played the Mustangs to a scoreless tie until the 77th minute of play when Cal Poly struck for the first goal of the match. The Mustangs added a second goal on a penalty kick just 59 seconds later before scoring again in the 87th minute. The late scoring spree spoiled a strong outing from Mauldin who finished with six saves in front of the net. Yoshi Rubalcava recorded both of CSUN's two shots in the match.
MATADOR HEADLINES
At a glance at the Big West leaderboards, Cindy Arteaga tops the league in shots (52) and shots on goal (24) while she is in second place in goals (6) and in third place in points (13). Ashley Cruz is in his 12th place in shots on goal (9), 13th place in assists (2), 16th in shots (14) and 19th in points (6). Kacie Garrity also shares 13th place with Cruz in assists with two helpers. In goal, Hayden Mauldin has moved into fourth place in The Big West in saves (48).
In the CSUN record book, Arteaga has moved into third place in team history in career shots (135), behind only Melissa Fernandez (168) in second place and Cynthia Sanchez (183) in first place. With nine career goals, Arteaga can be the 14th Matador in team history to crack double digit goals with one more strike. Arteaga's next goal would also put her in the CSUN all-time season top-10 list for goals scored.
Gabriela Robles has now played in 71 career games with the Matadors after appearing in both of CSUN's matches last week. The senior defender has started all 14 matches this season. With five regular season games left to play, Robles is seven off the pace from cracking CSUN's all-time career matches played top-10 list, and would need the Matadors to play two postseason matches this season to enter that list.
This season has seen the Matador debut of 16 total players including 14 freshmen. Only four newcomers on the roster have yet to play this season. Among the new faces, both Sam Bustamante and Cami Alarcon have played in the most matches of the newcomers with 13 played while Mauldin has started the most times with nine in front of the net. Cassidy Imperial-Pham leads the first-year field players with 500 minutes played.Â
SERIES HISTORY
The Matadors lead Hawai'i 11-5-1 in the all-time series, dating back to 1997. CSUN has posted victories in four of the last six meetings including a 3-2 win in Hawai'i last season. In that match, Cindy Arteaga registered three points, highlighted by a first-half goal while Gabriela Robles netted her first career goal. Brooke Mobeck was credited with the game-winning goal in the 77th minute, which was assisted by Arteaga. The Matadors last hosted Hawai'i in 2018, falling by a 2-1 score in overtime. CSUN has gone 6-2-1 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine at home.
SCOUTING HAWAI'I

The team has gone winless over the last three matches and seeks its first win since beating UC Davis on Sept. 15. On the road this season, Hawai'i has posted a 1-2-2 record. Head coach Michele Nagamine is in her 12th season leading the team.
Krista Peterson tops the team with four goals and 10 points while Amber Gilbert has three goals and eight points. Four players on the team have accounted for the team's nine goals. Lauren Marquez has a 1.05 GAA with 17 saves in over 500 minutes in front of the goal. As a team, Hawai'i has allowed 10 goals in nine matches.
