CSUN Faces UC Riverside in Big West Semifinals

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—After defeating UC Davis 3-2 in the first round of the Big West Championship Wednesday night, CSUN travels to the No. 1 seed UC Riverside on Saturday in the semifinals of the tournament. Coverage on ESPN+ begins at 7 p.m. with all links on GoMatadors.com.

ABOUT UCR
Defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-1 on the final night of the regular season, UC Riverside earned its first Big West regular season title. UCR went 5-2-2 in conference play, 6-7-4 overall.Â

Carlos Gonzalez was named Big West Co-Goalkeeper of the Year after putting up a conference-leading .778 goals against average and ranking second in Big West play with an .825 save percentage. Gonzalez also earned his second consecutive first team All-Conference honor.

Joining Gonzalez on the first team list were Brendan Clark, Leopoldo Hernandez, Noah Lopez and Aleksander Vukovic. Issa Badawiya earned second team All-Big West honors, while Alfonso Ramirez and Westley Hastings were named to the All-Freshman Team.

CSUN defeated UC Riverside 1-0 on Sept. 28 in Northridge. The Matadors lead the all-time series against the Highlanders 27-7-8.
Saturday marks the seventh time CSUN will be appearing in the semifinals of the Big West Championship with the Matadors looking to advance to the finals for the third time.
