Matadors to Host CSUN Fall Invitational This Weekend

WHAT'S COMING UP FOR CSUN WOMEN'S TENNIS
CSUN closes the Fall portion of the 2022-23 schedule this week by hosting the CSUN Fall Invitational. The tournament will run from Friday, Nov. 11 to Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Matador Tennis Complex. There will be three sessions each day, singles at 9 a.m., doubles at noon, and singles again at 1 p.m.

The CSUN Fall Invitational will take place under a hidden dual format with matches being set up for extra players. Scheduled to compete are Cal State Fullerton, Idaho, Pacific, Portland State, Sacramento State, San José State, UC Irvine, Utah State, Westmont, and Youngstown State. CSUN will field two teams, the "Red" and the "Black."

THE LAST TIME OUT
Jolene Coetzee and Angela Ho defeated UCLA's Fangran Tian and Ava Catanzarite 8-6 to advance to the Championship round of 16 at the Oct. 20-22 ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego. The Bruins fought off seven match points before Coetzee and Ho were able to prevail. Catanzarite, a sophomore, was ranked as high as No. 23 in the ITA Doubles rankings last season. The Matador duo would be defeated by the No. 4 seed Solymar Colling and Claudia De Las Heras of the University of San Diego in the championship round of 16 to end the CSUN run in the bracket.

 Victoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung fell 8-5 to the No. 3 seed, San Diego's Elizabeth Goldsmith, and Kailey Evans in the championship round of 32.Â

Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna dropped an 8-5 decision to the No. 2 seed, Domenika Turkovic and Patricija Spaka of Arizona State in the championship round of 32.Â
