CSUN Women's Tennis Faces Sacramento State & UC Davis This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Women's Tennis team returns to action this week with a pair of duals on the road.
The Matadors open play at Sacramento State on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Hornets are 1-8 after losing two of three duals last weekend at home. Alexis Johnson and Paige Alter have both won three singles matches this season to lead Sacramento State. Alter and Tsyeti Yotova are the top doubles pair as the duo are 2-6 this season. Thursday is the 23rd time CSUN and Sacramento State have met in women's tennis. The Matadors lead the all-time series 18-4.
CSUN opens Big West Conference play on Friday when the Matadors head to UC Davis. The Aggies dropped a pair of league duals to Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 20-21 to fall to 5-5 overall, 2-3 in conference action. Yana Gurevich is 8-2 in singles and 4-4 in doubles with Arianna Stavropoulos to pace UC Davis. Friday will mark the 26th time that the teams will face one another. The Matadors lead the all-time series 16-9.
The Matadors improved to 2-0 on Feb. 6 when CSUN defeated San José State 5-2 in Northridge. Jolene Coetzee, Magdalena Hedrzak, Ekaterina Repina, and Sasha Turchak are all 2-0 in singles in 2022. The doubles teams of Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso and Hedrzak and Turchak are both 2-0 this season.
