CSUN 5, THE MASTER'SÂ 0
After Oregon took all five pairs in a 5-0 win over The Master's in the middle dual, CSUN did the same in the final dual of the afternoon. Eknoian and Sparks again got the Matadors on the board first with a 21-11, 21-12 victory over Evie Yates and Kasie Spencer at No. 2. McCullough and Waggoner then made quick work of Emily Grace Williams and Annika Booker in the No. 4 pair, winning 21-14, 21-15 to send CSUN to the second flight up 2-0. Willams and Bickers would wind up tied in the exhibition match as Ellie Niehus and Ellie Unruh won the second set to even the match when the dual moved to the second flight.
Â
Sweeting and Rogers clinched the win with a 21-15, 21-17 win over Tara Long and Kaylie Phelps at No. 3 before Honeycutt and Maughan picked up their first win of the season (33rd all-time) with a 21-19, 14-21, 15-6 victory over Chloe Johnson and Kassidy Wilson in the No. 1 pair. COACH JOHN PRICE SAID
"The Oregon match was a great win for us. All five of those matches could have gone either way and it was nice that we came out on the 4-1 side of it. Oregon is a good, physical team so it was nice to see us compete with them. I think that win took a little out of us because we didn't play our best against The Master's but finding a way to win when you don't play your best is also a good sign for us."
