CSUN Falls 3-1 at Hawai'i

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i defeated CSUN 3-1 in the final game of the Big West softball series Sunday afternoon at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Maya Nakamura gave UH the lead in the bottom of the first when she hit a two-run, two-out home run.
CSUN threatened in the top of the second. Kaylee Escutia and Aaliyah Swan recorded back-to-back singles with one out. The Rainbow Wahine turned a 5-3 double play to end the inning.
The Matadors left runners on in the fourth and fifth innings. Dallas Millwood homered to lead off the Hawai'i fifth to extend the lead to three.
Jaymi Steward led off the CSUN sixth with her fourth home run to get the Matadors on the board.
Alexa Landeros walked to begin the Matadors' seventh. Swan worked the count to 3-2 against Brianna Lopez, the UH starter, before popping out to second. Mia Stankiewicz reached on a 4-6 fielder's choice, which retired Landeros at second. Mikayla Carman grounded into a 6-4 fielder's choice to end the game.
CSUN pitchers Alexis Martinez and Kenedee Jamerson combined on a four-hitter. Martinez threw the first five innings and struck out three. Lopez tossed a five-hitter for the Rainbow Wahine. Izabella Martinez registered two hits for Hawai'i (11-10, 5-1 Big West).

UP NEXT
CSUN (13-20, 3-3 Big West) travels to Long Beach State (14-16, 4-2 Big West) on Apr. 2-3. The Saturday doubleheader begins at 1 p.m., with Sunday's single-game beginning at 1 p.m. All three games will stream on ESPN+.
