CSUN Travels to UC Davis This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--CSUN (13-26, 3-9 Big West) travels to UC Davis this weekend. Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the series schedule has changed.

The series will now begin with a doubleheader on Friday that will start at 1 p.m. The action will conclude with a 1 p.m. single game on Saturday. Each of the games in the series will have a video stream and live stats, with all links on GoMatadors.com.

UC Davis fell to 18-18 overall, 6-6 in Big West play after dropping 2-of-3 at UC Riverside last weekend. Three Aggies; Sarah Starks, 19; Delaney Diaz, 18; and Anna Dethlefson, have combined for 52 of the 93 RBI that UC Davis has registered this season.

Dethlefson leads the team in batting (.331), runs (32), and home runs (6). Starks has hit five home runs while Diaz has tallied three homers. Kenedi Brown is the Big West leader in ERA (1.20), and innings pitched (134). Second, in wins (11) and strikeouts (168), Brown was named Big West Pitcher of the Week three times in 2022. CSUN leads the all-time series against UC Davis 36-21.

The Matadors' struggles continued last weekend as Cal State Fullerton swept CSUN in a three-game series in Northridge. Last Friday, the Titans defeated the Matadors 6-4 in the opener as Jaymi Steward recorded two of the four CSUN hits.

In Saturday's opener, Cal State Fullerton defeated CSUN 6-4 in nine innings. The Titans scored the game-winning runs in the top of the ninth. Mia Stankiewicz charted two of the six Matadors' hits during the game. Alexis Martinez pitched all nine innings for CSUN, taking the loss. Cal State Fullerton gave CSUN an 8-2 loss in the finale series. During the game, Freshman Alexa Landeros hit her first home run for the Matadors.

Steward is second in hitting (.436) in conference-only games, tied for second in home runs (3), and tied for fourth in RBI. Kenedee Jamerson ranks seventh in Big West-only games in ERA (1.89), ninth in innings (33.1) and ninth in strikeouts (24).
