Complete 2022 All-Big West Team
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Water Polo freshmen Dorottya Telek and Anna Pal earned All-Big West accolades on Wednesday, the league office announced. Telek became the first freshman in Matador history to be named to the All-Big West First Team while she earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team alongside Pal.

Originally from Budapest, Telek had one of the best freshman campaigns in Big West history. Through the Big West Championship, Telek is the conference leader in goals (77) and points (108) while she is ranked second in steals (35) and third in assists (31). Telek also shot 51.0 percent from the field to go with 70 drawn exclusions and 12 field blocks on the defensive end. She finished with 21 multiple-goal scoring performances and netted at least one goal in 23 of 26 matches.
Telek's 77 goals were at least 30 goals greater than any other freshmen in the Big West this season while she also led all first-year players in points, steals and field blocks. Her goal total was the third-most ever recorded by a freshman player in Big West history, only trailing Pacific's Jasmine Myles in 2010 (80 goals) and UC Santa Barbara's Samantha Murphy in 2013 (78 goals). Overall, Telek's season total was the seventh-most scored in a single season in Big West history.
In the CSUN record book, Telek ranks in second place on the single season goal list with her 77 tallies while her field goal percentage is the fifth-highest in team history.

Another Budapest native, Pal also had a stellar freshman season with the Matadors. Pal finished second in the Big West in assists (37), fifth in points (84) and seventh in goals (47). She shot 46.5 percent from the field while totaling 21 steals and six field blocks. Pal registered 14 multiple-goal games and found the net at least once in 22 of 26 contests.
Ten of Pal's 47 goals were scored in Big West play while she shared the team lead with Telek with 19 points scored against conference foes. In addition, Pal posted a team single-game high of eight points (four goals and four assists) in a win over Marist on Feb. 12.
Telek's First-Team selection is the 14th in CSUN history and the first since Madeleine Sanchez in 2018. Telek and Pal are also the second and third Matador players to be placed on the All-Freshman Team since the Big West added the award in 2019.
