Complete 400m Results
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—CSUN's Chris Pitts competed in the first round of the men's 400m at the NCAA Preliminary Round Wednesday night at John McConnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Pitts ran :47.60 in the fifth of six heats of the event. His time did not make the top 24, and as such, Pitts failed to advance to Friday's quarterfinals of the event. Pitts' effort on Wednesday night caps off a 2022 campaign in which he reset the school record in the 400m, going :46.42 at the Mar. 19 Willie Williams Classic at the University of Arizona. Pitts finished second at the Big West Championship in the 400m and anchored the Matadors' 4x400m relay at the Big West Championship that placed third.
"This wasn't the ending that we wanted, but this has been a storied year for Chris nonetheless," said CSUN assistant coach Jacob Yowell. "He is our new school record holder in the 400 and he ran all of his races under his previous lifetime best. Chris has moved the needle for our program and with his talent, the sky is the limit. I am proud of him, and we will be back."
CSUN will send Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck in the women's 100m hurdles on Thursday at the West Regional. The 100m hurdles begins at 4 p.m. PDT with coverage on SEC Network+ or the ESPN app.
