SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer dropped a 4-0 decision to Big West-leading Cal Poly on Sunday afternoon at Mustang Memorial Field.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
CSUN would generate three shots in the opening 16 minutes of action including attempts from Kacie Garrity and Paige Califf that reached the frame. Hayden Mauldin did her best to keep the Mustangs off the scoreboard throughout the day, posting eight saves alone in the first half. After 30 scoreless minutes, the final 15 minutes would belong to the Mustangs who broke through in the 31st minute. Taking advantage of a CSUN turnover, Bailey Bracha scored from the right side of the box. Cal Poly again forced a CSUN give away on its side of the field in the 36th minute leading to another goal. On that strike, Sophia Minnite crossed the ball to Jessie Halladay who tapped the ball in front of the net.
Â
The Mustangs reached the scoring column again in the 55th minute with Dani Wozniak scoring on a left-footed shot. Jaycee DeFazio, who assisted Wozniak, picked up a goal of her own in the 59th minute on a strong drive up the right side where she found the left corner of the net from 18 yards. After the two strikes, CSUN kept the Mustangs out of the net for the rest of the way. Mauldin recorded three more saves in the second half including making an acrobatic stop to her right in the 68th minute. CSUN would gain two strong looks at the net off the feet of Garrity and Brooke Mobeck late in the contest but could not break through.
