CSUN (6-12) is scheduled to compete in the Silicon Valley Classic II at San José State Saturday.

Saturday's play at SJSU begins at noon against Rhode Island before ending at 2:30 p.m. against the host Spartans on the Mountain West Network.
Friday's games at Santa Clara and against Utah State were postponed to Sunday due to weather. The Matadors will play the Aggies at 8:30 a.m. before facing the Broncos at 11 a.m.

The Rams travel west with a 2-8 record.

Becca Zawistowski leads the team in hitting at .412. She has driven in four runs. Seven pitchers have seen time in the circle for Rhode Island.

Liz Lynchard has been the most successful as she has recorded both victories for the Rams. She is 2-2 with a 4.48 ERA and 23 strikeouts.

This is the first time CSUN and Rhode Island are playing softball.

San José State brings a 7-12 record into the week after going 4-1 at the Silicon Valley Invitational I last week.

Alyssa Graham leads the team in hitting (.377), home runs (4), and RBI (15). She has posted a .672 slugging and a .465 on-base percentage as she has started all 19 games for the Spartans.

Jenessa Ullegue (4-3) and Lacie Ham (3-5) have seen the bulk of the work for a pitching staff that has a 7.98 team ERA this season.

CSUN and SJSU are playing for the first time since 2019. The Matadors hold a 16-4 advantage in the all-time series.

Utah State is 7-8 to begin the week. Freshman pitcher Hailey McLean ranks 22nd in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings at 10.6 per game. She set the program record and UCLA Easton Stadium with 20 strikeouts across nine innings in USU's 3-2 win over CSU Bakersfield earlier this season. McLean's 48 strikeouts are 92nd in Division I.
McLean leads a six-pitcher staff with a 3-0 record and a 1.19 ERA. She has one save in 32 innings.

Ashley Trierweiler is 14th in Division in batting at .500 (30-60). At .617, her on-base percentage is sixth in D-1. Trierweller's .850 slugging percentage is 29th in Division I. She leads the team in home runs and RBI.

Sage Hager is 5-3 in the circle. She has struck out 16 while only walking four in 41.2 innings.

Freshman Carys Murakami has shown patience at the plate for the Matadors so far this season.

Murakami has walked 16 times in 18 appearances this season. She received three free passes against Colorado State on Feb. 17 which is the second most in a game by a Matadors' player at the Division I level.

She is atop the Big West in the category and is ranked 14th in Division I this week in walks per game (0.89).
