CSUN Water Polo Places 15 on the ACWPC All-Academic Team

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Water Polo placed its second-most honorees in school history with 15 on the 2023 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team on Monday. The 15 honorees are one shy of the team record set in 2021.
CSUN was also one-of-53 schools recognized nationwide with Team Honors by the ACWPC for posting a grade-point-average of 3.46.
"These student-athletes represent the outstanding values of our program, both in and out of the pool," said head coach Matt Warshaw. "It's nice to see them recognized with this accolade, well deserved on all fronts."
To be eligible for award consideration, student-athletes must carry an overall 3.2 or higher cumulative GPA. Student-athletes were recognized by three GPA levels: 3.71 to 4.00 (Outstanding), 3.41 to 3.70 (Superior) and 3.20 to 3.40 (Excellent).
Nicole Bacoyanis, Lacey Hall, Shelby Hovanesian, Meghan Lopez, Jenna Olson, Anna Pal, Maria Sandoghdar, Tatum Scarry, Tatiana Smeltzer, Alexis Smith, Dorottya Telek and Nicole Thomas each landed in the Outstanding category while Jessica Matkovich and Helena Sandhagen earned a Superior distinction and Beata Hitterer collected an Excellent classification.
CSUN's 15 honorees marked the ninth consecutive season where the program has placed double-digit honorees on the ACWPC All-Academic Team.
