Set 1: CSUN 26, SJSU 24
Neither team held more than a one point lead until CSUN used an Orshoff kill and a pair of Spartan miscues to open up an 11-9 advantage. Another SJSU attack error gave the Matadors a 13-10 lead and CSUN would extend the margin to as many as four at 15-11. Still trailing by three at 18-15, the hosts rallied to tie the score at 18-18 forcing a CSUN timeout. With the score tied at 21-21, the hosts claimed three of the next four points to take set point at 24-22. CSUN would then close the set on a 4-0 to pull out the 26-24 win.
Set 2: SJSU 25, CSUN 21
CSUN jumped out to a 4-0 lead and would lead 5-2 following a Perri Starkey kill. But a 9-1 run by the Spartans erased the CSUN lead and put San José State up 11-6. A 3-0 CSUN run trimmed a 14-9 deficit to two but SJSU quickly built the lead back to six at 20-14. CSUN responded by claiming five of the next seven points to pull within 22-19 but the Spartans would hold on for the 25-21 win.
Set 3: SJSU 25, CSUN 10
The Spartans dominated the set, out-hitting the Matadors .440 to -208. CSUN was within two at 9-7 when San José State claimed six of the next seven points to extend the lead to 15-8. A Spartan service error on the next point pulled CSUN within 15-9 before San Jose State won 10 of the final 11 points in a 25-10 win.

Three straight SJSU points boosted the lead back to 18-12 when CSUN engineered an 8-1 run to take the lead 20-19. A Barron kill gave the Matadors set point at 24-21 when the Spartans saved three set points before a Starkey kill and a Barron ace sent the match to a fifth set.
Set 5: SJSU 15, CSUN 6
The Spartans scored the first five points in the final set and would never trail. A Spartan hitting error trimmed the CSUN deficit to 6-2 but the Matadors would get no closer, falling 15-6.
