NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Head coach Jim Bracken has announced the 2023-24 CSUN men's golf schedule, which gets underway Sunday, Sept. 10 with the opening round of Air Force's Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado.
Following the season opening tournament at Air Force, CSUNÂ will compete in nine events prior to the Big West Championship which will be contested Apr. 28-30 at La Quinta Country Club.
The remaining portion of CSUN's fall schedule sends to Fresno State's Nick Watney Invitational (Sept. 25-26) before CSUN hosts the annual Bill Cullum Invitational on Oct. 9-10.  Now in its 27th year, the Cullum Invitational will move to The Saticoy Club in Somis for the first time.
"The Cullum always features a strong mid-major field and this year is no exception," said Bracken.
CSUN closes the fall with tournaments in Stockton (Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational) on Oct. 16-18 and Hawai'i (Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate) on Oct. 26-28.
Following the winter break, CSUN opens the spring in Palm Desert, competing in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (Feb. 6-8). The VanHarte Orange County Collegiate is next on the schedule as CSUN travels to Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point for the two-day tournament (Feb. 12-13).
The homestretch of the regular season sees CSUN travel to Bandon, Ore., for the Bandon Dunes Championship (Mar. 10-12), Maricopa, Ariz., for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (Apr. 1-2) and the El Macero Classic in Northern California before heading back to La Quinta for the Big West Championship (Apr. 28-30)
"This a good schedule with some strong tournaments," said Bracken who will open his 38th season with CSUN travels to Colorado in mid-September. "Looking at the fall, Air Force is a good field and Hawai'i always has a strong field. The schedule will challenge us and give us the opportunity to compete against some good teams out of our area."
Bracken also likes the make-up of his 2023-24 squad which boasts All-Big West selections Eirik Thomassen (first team) and Felix Schrott (second team) as well as seniors Brandon McDonough and Thomas Burou. Newcomers to the team this season are graduate transfer Antoine Sale (Minnesota) and freshmen Dillon Jonke (Kihei, Hawai'i) and Liam Judkins (New Zealand).
"Our goal year-in and year-out is to win the Big West and advance to regionals," added Bracken. "With this team, which includes five experienced seniors, I feel we have the ability to shoot low numbers each and every round and reach those team goals."Â
