Taylan Cook Named Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – CSUN head men's volleyball coach Theo Edwards has announced the hiring of Taylan Cook as an assistant coach on the Matadors' 2025 coaching staff.
"I am both excited and proud to announce the addition of Taylan Cook to the 2024-25 CSUN Men's Volleyball coaching staff," Edwards said. "Having had the privilege of coaching Taylan throughout his entire tenure here at CSUN, I've witnessed firsthand his incredible growth as a leader and as a coach. His passion and commitment are undeniable, and we are fortunate to have him as part of our team."
A decorated libero for the CSUN men's volleyball team from 2021-24, Cook appeared in 350 sets while recording 315 digs in his Matador career. During his CSUN career, he was named Off the Block Libero of the Week (Feb. 6, 2023) while also being recognized as CSUN Athletics' Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023.
Cook earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from CSUN in 2024. He was a Big West All-Academic honoree every season from 2021-23 in addition to earning CSUN Varsity N accolades.
A native of Greeley, Colo., Cook began his collegiate playing career at Loyola Chicago before transferring to CSUN. A decorated high school student-athlete, he was an AVCA first-team All-American as well as a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection and honorable mention All-American.
Cook began his coaching career as a camp coach for COAST Volleyball in 2019. He has served in a coaching capacity for the Harvard-Westlake girls volleyball team and the Stanford Volleyball Camps. He also brings club coaching experience working with Sunshine Volleyball Club, SC Legends, and Gold Medal Squared.
