CSUN Opens the 2024 Season at Home Against Oklahoma State

STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE
CSUN opens the season with a home game against #11 Oklahoma State on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at Matador Diamond. The Matadors will continue to defend home as they take on Portland State on Friday, Feb. 9, in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They will then hit the road to take on Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 12 p.m. at Smith Field in Los Angeles. The games against Portland State and Maryland will be part of the Stacey Winsberg Memorial Tournament.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATEÂ Â
The Cowgirls will open their season at CSUN. They add seven freshmen to their roster for the 2024 season. Head coach Kenny Gajewski enters his ninth year at the helm. He has previously led the Cowgirls to four College World Series appearances. CSUN leads series history with four wins to Oklahoma's three. The last time they met on the field was in 2014 with Oklahoma State earning a 4-0 win.

ABOUT PORTLAND STATE
The Vikings will be the second team to take on the Matadors at Matador Diamond. Portland State added two freshmen to its roster. Head coach Meadow McWhorter enters her eighth season. Under her guidance, McWhorter has led the Vikings to five consecutive Big Sky Tournament appearances. CSUN leads series history with 11 wins to Portland State's three wins. The last time the Matadors met with the Vikings was in 2016. CSUN took the win 16-12.
ABOUT MARYLAND
The Terrapins begin their season against UC San Diego and UCLA before playing against CSUN. Maryland added six freshmen to its roster. Lauren Karn enters her seventh season as head coach. In 2022, she led Maryland to victory in the Horizon League and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

This will be the second time the Matadors have played against Maryland. The last time was last season when the Terrapins won 8-0.
