Two CSUN Players in Top-10 Through Two Rounds in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Sophomore Gracie Piar fired a 1-under 71 on Friday to move into the top 10 along with Kim Turgut as the CSUN women's golf team remained seventh after 36 holes of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course.
CSUN posted a nine-shot improvement from round one to round two, finishing the second round at 300 for a two-day total of 609. The Matadors will head into Saturday's final round just three shots out of the top-five. Boise State (600) maintained a two-shot lead over Oral Roberts (602) in the 13-team field, while Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn has a six-stroke lead in the individual competition.
Piar had two birdies and 13 pars, along with an eagle at the par-5 2nd hole to finish the day at 1-under 71. Through two rounds, Piar is tied for sixth at 4-over 148. Turgut posted three birdies in round two, finishing at 3-over 75 to slip into a tie for eighth at 5-over 149.

The Matadors will be paired with Southern Utah, Stetson, and Weber State for the final round which gets underway Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. local time.

- Freshman Nicole Tanoue, who began the day tied for 13th at 4-over 76, had a pair of birdies in finishing at 3-over 75 to slip into a tie for 15th at 7-over 151.
- Fello freshman Meghan Paracuelles posted a three-shot improvement from round one's 10-over 82, finishing with one birdie and 11 pars in a round of 7-over 79. Paracuelles is currently tied for 60th at 17-over 161.
- Junior Elle Laur rounded out the CSUN scoring, carding an 81 in the second round and is now tied for 68th at 20-over 164.
