NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head baseball coach Eddie Cornejo has announced the elevation of Brendan Brooks to an assistant coach for the 2025-26 year.
Â
Brooks enters his second season with CSUN after spending the 2025 season as director of player development. In his coaching career, Brooks has served as an assistant coach at Riverside City College from 2023-24, helping the Tigers record a 27-17 overall record. Riverside City College also competed in the SoCal Super Regionals with Brooks on the bench.
Â
"Brendan is a smart and loyal individual," said Cornejo. "He is rising fast and is certainly deserving of the position."
Â
A SoCal native, Brooks began his collegiate baseball career at UC Irvine where he played for head coach Mike Gillespie from 2018-19. Brooks led the team in batting average at a .308 clip with 53 hits as a freshman outfielder and third baseman, collecting All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades.
Â
Brooks would complete his collegiate baseball career at UNLV in 2021. He earned an All-Mountain West First Team honor in his senior season after leading the Rebels in on-base percentage (.538) and walks (21) to go with a .407 batting average, 27 runs scored and 22 RBI.
Â
Cornejo's staff for the 2026 season also includes pitching coach Paul Koss, assistant coach Nate Esposito, director of player development Broc Mortensen and director of baseball operations Nick Alfonso.Â
