CSUN will play a 26-match regular-season schedule before the 2026 Big West Men's Volleyball Championship gets underway at UCI's Bren Events Center on Apr. 23.
As has been the case for 21 of the past 22 seasons, the Matadors will open the season at the annual UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Jan. 8 against Harvard. CSUN's 2026 home opener is slated for Jan. 21 against Long Island. CSUN's 10-match Big West schedule gets underway Mar. 3Â against UC San Diego in La Jolla.
"We're really excited about our 2026 schedule and the opportunities it brings for our program," said Edwards, who opens his fourth season at the helm in January.
After taking on Harvard, Kentucky State, and Maryville at the UCSB Invitational, CSUN travels to the Midwest to meet Lindenwood and Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 16-17.
"After our annual trip to Santa Barbara, we're taking an early-season trip to the Midwest to face off against two strong MIVA opponents in Lindenwood and Purdue Fort Wayne, which will be a great early test for our team," Edwards said.
The Matadors then return to Northridge to open the home season against Long Island, Fort Valley State, and Edward Waters.Â
"We're also looking forward to welcoming a few first-time opponents to our gym in Long Island, Fort Valley State, and Edward Waters," said Edwards. "Every match on this schedule gives us a chance to grow, compete, and prepare ourselves for Big West play."
The second month of the season features a majority of home matches. CSUN opens February at USC (Feb. 4) before hosting Pepperdine on Feb. 6. A road match at UCLA on Feb. 13 is followed by three straight home matches against Lincoln Memorial (Feb. 18), UC Merced (Feb. 20), and Cal Lutheran (Feb. 27).
The 2025 Big West season opens Mar. 3Â on the road at UC San Diego before CSUN completes the two-match set with the Tritons at home on Mar, 13. Around the Big West opening series, the Matadors wrap up non-conference play at home against Princeton (Mar. 11) and Jessup (Mar. 19).
The Big West season resumes in earnest in late March as CSUN welcomes defending National Champions Long Beach State to Premier America Credit Union Arena on Mar. 27. The Matadors head to the Walter Pyramid to complete the two-match set with the Beach on Mar. 28 before opening the final month of the regular season with Big West home-and-home series' against UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 2-4) and UC Irvine (Apr. 9-11). CSUN's wraps up the regular season in Honolulu, taking on the Rainbow Warriors on Apr. 17-18.
"I'm sure the Big West will be exactly what we expect it to be; it's the best volleyball conference in the country," added Edwards. "I know the guys on this team are poised to make some noise in the Big West this season."
The 2026 Outrigger Big West Men's Volleyball Championship will be contested at the Bren Events Center at UC Irvine for the second time in five years.
