NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head women's water polo coach Matt Warshaw has released the 2026 schedule, featuring two home invites and three Big West matchups at Matador Pool.
Â
"I'm excited about the upcoming spring schedule," said Warshaw, who enters his 10th year leading the water polo program. "Some big non-conference games on the road with San José State, Pacific and Marist this season. All will be excellent preparation for our competitive conference."
Â
CSUN opens up the 2026 slate at Cal Lutheran on Friday, Jan. 30 where the Matadors face the host Regals and Fresno Pacific. A day later, CSUN travels to Riverside for matches with California Baptist and Biola.
Â
February kicks off with the Matadors hosting the first of two mini invites on Friday, Feb. 6 at Matador Pool with matches set against Austin College and Concordia. CSUN will also compete at the Redlands Invitational a day later against Occidental and La Verne.
Â
The Matadors are slated to face several ranked teams when they take part in the Santa Clara Invite from Feb. 13-14. CSUN will meet the likes of Santa Clara, Marist, San José State and Pacific at the weekend invite.
Â
Big West play kicks off on Feb. 20 with CSUN traveling to Cal State Fullerton while the Matadors make the trip to La Jolla the following week to meet UC San Diego on Feb. 28.
Â
CSUN hosts its second mini invite on March 5 with matches slated versus Villanova and McKendree.
Â
After competing in the Convergence Tournament in Pomona from March 6-7, CSUN returns to Big West play to face UC Santa Barbara on March 13 at Matador Pool. The following week, the Matadors travel to Hawai'i for three matches including an exhibition match with national runner-up USC (March 17), a non-conference match with Connecticut College (March 18) and a Big West match with defending league champion Hawai'i (March 20).
Â
Conference play rolls on with the Matadors hosting UC Irvine on March 26 at Matador Pool. Senior Day is set for March 28 this season against Long Beach State while the Matadors close the regular season on the road at UC Davis on April 4.
Â
The 2025 Big West Women's Water Polo Championship will be held at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on the campus of Long Beach State from April 10-12.
Â
CSUN is coming off a 16-13 overall record last season with much of the season spent ranked in the national top-25. A total of 11 letterwinners return to the team in 2026 with the addition of eight true freshmen.
Â
"Our young team will be tested early and often with this schedule, all part of the plan to be peaking at the right time come March and April," Warshaw added.
