2/24/2025 3:54:00 PM | Softball
NORTHRIDGE, Calif -- CSUN Softball fell to the Washington Huskies, 11-0, Monday afternoon at Matador Diamond. Mikayla Carman and Alexis Chavez accounted for the only hits on the day for the Matadors.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
CSUN fell behind early in this one as the Huskies never looked back. Washington tallied three runs in the first inning with Giselle Alvarez hitting a three-run home run to put Washington ahead.
Â
Lauryn Carranco retired the side in order in the second, striking out one in the process. CSUN struggled to get a baserunner on as Carranco tried to hold the fort down. The Huskes went in order for the second straight inning in the third.Â
Â
In the fourth inning, Washington put its stamp on this contest. The Huskies tallied eight runs in the fourth. One triple, three doubles, a single and a couple walks resulted in Washington having its best inning on the afternoon.Â
Â
In the bottom of the fourth, CSUN tried to chip away as the Matadors got back-to-back singles off the bats of Carman and Chavez, however they couldn't capitalize as the away team got out of the inning unscathed.Â
Â
In the fifth inning, CSUN was up against the run rule as it tried to score four runs with three outs to work with. The Matadors couldn't climb back into the game in time as Washington found the win column.

"Hats off, Washington came in and capitalized on opportunities we gave them early on in this game. We just weren't able to find our way back into it. It was an opportunity for many players to get in the game and today was an amazing opportunity to play against a good and well-coached team."
