NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field's senior thrower Trey Knight earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office. Knight would break his own school record and set a new all-time Big West record in the hammer throw in his outdoor season debut this past weekend.

The native of Ridgefield, Wash. made history yet again at the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational on March 21. Knight would take first place in the hammer throw with a new all-time school and conference-best mark of 77.91m (255-7). That mark won the event by a 51-foot margin on second place.
His new all-time school best mark currently stands as the top throw in the nation thus far in the outdoor season.
The Big West Field Athlete of the Week award is the third in Knight's career after he collected two last season for CSUN.
Knight has already enjoyed another historic year on the field of competition. He would finish as the national runner-up for the second straight season in the weight throw at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14, earning First-Team All-America honors. Knight also home USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year and his second consecutive MPSF Male Athlete of the Year honor. At the 2025 MPSF Championships, Knight won a second straight weight throw title for the first time in school history.
The CSUN men's and women's teams will return to competition this weekend when it travels to UC Irvine's Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic from March 28-29.
