2026 CSUN Indoor and Outdoor Schedules
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head track & field coach Justin Johnson has announced the indoor and outdoor schedules for the upcoming 2026 season.
"Our schedule this year is packed with great competition, from tough non-conference matchups to exciting Big West battles," said Johnson. "This team is ready, and we can't wait to get the season started."
The Matadors open up the 2026 indoor season schedule in January at the Nevada Invitational (Jan. 16-17), hosted by the University of Nevada. CSUN is also set to return to the University of New Mexico in 2026 to participate at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque from Feb. 13-14.
The 2026 MPSF Indoor Championships are scheduled to be held in Reno, Nev., from March 1-2 while the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., from March 13-14.
CSUN's 2026 outdoor season kicks off at Long Beach State's Beach Opener from March 6-7 before the Matadors take part in Cal State Fullerton's Ben Brown Invitational from March 12-13. Two weeks later, the team splits up to compete at USC's Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational and UCLA's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Meet from March 27-28.
In April, the Matadors again split up their squads to compete across two states. CSUN will send a contingent to the Texas Relays in Austin (April 2-4) while the Matadors are scheduled for competition at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational (April 3-4). Two weeks later, the Matadors will take part in three meets including 66th annual Mt. SAC Relays (April 16-17). CSUN is also set to participate at Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach (April 16) and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa (April 16-18) during the busy weekend.
After April concludes at the UCSB Invite (April 24-25), the Matadors head to UC Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational from May 1-2. Finally, in the final tune-ups before the conference championship, the Matadors will compete at Azusa Pacific's Franson Last Chance (May 7-9) and Cal State Fullerton's Titan Tune-Up (May 8).
The 2026 Big West Outdoor Championships will be hosted this season at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track from May 15-16. Later in the month, the NCAA West First Round will be held from May 27-30 in Fayetteville, Ark., while the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship is scheduled for June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
In 2025, CSUN had seven individual conference champions across the indoor and outdoor seasons while six individual men's records would be broken. Returning this season will be 30 men's athletes along with 11 newcomers and 22 women's athletes coupled with 20 newcomers. Among the returning crop are four reigning conference champions: Tibyasa Matovu (MPSF 400m), Joey Nations (Big West long jump), Jay Louison-Roe (Big West triple jump) and Summer Mosley (Big West hammer throw and discus).
