NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field's senior thrower Tylor Connelly earned his first career Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Athlete of the Week award on Wednesday, as announced by the conference office.Â
A native of Chino Hills, Calif., Connelly had a career performance last Friday in the Matadors' first meet of the season at the Nevada Invitational. Connelly took first place in the weight throw, posting a personal-best mark of 20.26m (66-5.75). He finished tops in a 17-athlete field while his best throw, which came on his fourth attempt, was over two meters farther than second place.Â
Connelly's winning weight throw toss ranks third-best in CSUN school history. His previous PR in the event was 17.98m (59-0), set at last season's MPSF Championships. Connelly's victory was also the second of his career in the event after previously taking first place in the Nevada Wolf Pack Classic in Feb. 2025.Â
With the MPSF Athlete of the Week honor, Connelly is the first Matador to win the award since Trey Knight received the accolade on Jan. 29, 2025.Â
The CSUN men's and women's track & field teams return to competition next at the Don Kirby Invitational from Feb. 13-14 in Albuquerque, N.M.Â
