CSUN's Kelpis Finishes Eighth in Heptathlon at Bryan Clay Multis

AZUSA, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field's senior Brianna Kelpis finished in eighth place in her first heptathlon of the season on Friday at the Bryan Clay Multis inside Cougar Stadium.
Kelpis, who competed in her first heptathlon since 2023, registered a PR in points with 4,660, just three points back of seventh place in the 14th-athlete field in Group C. Wofford's Sherika Christie won the event with 5,474 points.
A native of Lancaster, Kelpis opened up day one of the meet on Thursday with a second-place finish in the 100m-hurdles by clocking a time of 14.34. She would place eighth in the high jump, posting a season-best mark of 1.55m (5-1) before going on to take fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.77m (35-4) and finish 13th in the 200m with a PR time of 26.47.
Kelpis began Friday competing in the long jump where she was eighth with a leap of 5.49m (18-0.25). Her top finish of the day came in the javelin where she charted a throw of 29.46m (96-8) to take seventh place. Kelpis went on to wrap up the meet with a ninth-place finish in the 800m, clocking a time of 21:45.95 and narrowly missing her personal best (21:45.68).
CSUN's men's and women's track & field teams return to competition next week for a pair of meets. Members of the teams will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16-17, hosted by Azusa Pacific University, while CSUN is also scheduled to participate in the Mt. SAC Relays from April 18-19 in Walnut, Calif.
