CSUN's Trey Knight to Compete at USATF Outdoor Championships

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUNÂ Track & Field's Trey Knight will compete at the 2025 Toyota USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships inside historic Hayward Field on Thursday in Eugene, Ore.
Knight is set to participate in the hammer throw out of a 16-athlete field beginning at 4:30 p.m. Live streaming of the hammer throw will be broadcast at USATF.TV.Â

Last month, Knight recorded a personal-best in the hammer throw with a toss that went for 78.15m (256-4) at the Portland Track Festival. Knight holds the fourth-best performance in the hammer among the field at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships.Â
As a senior with CSUN in 2025, Knight won his second consecutive hammer throw title with a toss of 73.11m (239-10) at the 2025 Big West Outdoor Championships in May while he broke a school record with a mark of 77.91m (255-7) at the Trojan Invitational in March.Â
Knight's final season at CSUN also included a national runner-up finish in the weight throw at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. His second-place finish earned him a First-Team All-American honor for the second consecutive season with a toss that went 24.49m (80-4.25). He also set a school record in the weight throw during the season, reaching 24.87m (81-7.25) at the Nevada Invitational. Knight finished the indoor season by receiving NCAA West Region Field Athlete of the Year along with MPSF Male Athlete of the Year accolades.Â
Knight makes his return to Hayward Field in Eugene this week after competing in the hammer throw at both the NCAA Outdoor Championships and U.S. Olympic Team Trials in 2024. He would pick up First-Team All-American honors at the NCAA Championships, finishing sixth overall while he posted a ninth-place finish at the Olympic Trials.Â
