CSUN Falls 4-0 to UC Santa Barbara In Road Duel

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ---Â The CSUN women's tennis team (13-7, 4-4 Big West) dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 48 UC Santa Barbara (13-8, 7-0 Big West) on Friday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center.Â

The doubles point was tightly contested but ultimately the Gauchos came out on top 1-0. Emma Tutoveanu and My-Anh Holmes bested Madison Shepperson and Sofia Dermenjyan 6-2 on Court No. 3. CSUN answered back when the duo of Angela Ho and Nicole West earned a 6-3 win at the top spot over Ekua Youri and Caroline Beard. It came down to Court No. 2, as the Matadors even had a match point, but UCSB ultimately came out victorious when Lily Pradkin and Shanelle Iaconi defeated Emma Moratalla Sanz and Sandra Arguelles, 7-6 (7-2).

In singles play, UC Santa Barbara won three completed matches to seal the team victory. Raphaelle Leroux put the Gauchos on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Madison Shepperson at Court No. 5 to make it 2-0. Tutoveanu followed with a straight-sets victory over Moratalla Sanz, 6-2, 6-4, at Court No. 2., to make it 3-0.

Isabella Wong clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Ho at Court No. 1.

CSUN closes out the regular season this Saturday on Senior Day, a home duel against the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
