Boman Lands in Top 20, CSUN Finishes 10th at Big West Men's Golf Championship

LA QUINTA, Calif. - The CSUN Men's Golf team had its best round of the championship on Tuesday, finishing at 9-over 297, but remained in 10th place at the conclusion of the Big West Championship at La Quinta Country Club.
After posting team scores of 310-300 over the first two rounds on Sunday and Monday, the Matadors finished at 297 on Tuesday to post a championship total of 907. Long Beach State (816) led from start to finish to claim the automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals as the Beach shattered the Big West Championship record by finishing 48-under par as a team. Long Beach claimed the top five spots on the final individual leaderboard, led by champion Steen Zeman, who finished at 11-under 205.
Individually, sophomore Tavin Boman led CSUN over the final two rounds, finishing tied for 20th at 2-over 218 following a final round 67. Boman, who began the day on the No. 10 tee, had two birdies and seven pars on his opening nine holes. He then added four more birdies over his final nine holes, working around his lone bogey of the day at No. 4, to finish at 5-under 67, CSUN's low round of the championship.

"We played better today and made a late charge, but had some trouble closing out the round. Tavin played great today; he hit the ball well and made some putts, and Dom also played well. Overall, it kind of ended the way it started for us, which is frustrating, but we'll put it behind us and start fresh in the fall."

CSUN SCORES
- Senior Domenic De Luca, who opened the final round tied for 43rd, carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 34th at 10-over 226. De Luca had five birdies in the final round and got his round as low as 3-under heading into his final two holes of the day.
- Junior Ethan Posthumus, who was the low Matador after round one (tied for 22nd), finished 42nd at 14-over 230 following a final round 78. Posthumus' highlight of the final round was an eagle 3 at the par-5 sixth hole.
- Sophomore Bryson Barnes remained in 45th place at 19-over 235 following a final round 80 on Tuesday.
- Junior Dillon Jonke, who subbed in for fellow junior Liam Judkins following round one, finished with rounds of 76-83 over his two rounds.
