NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Women's Golf head coach Michelle Winkler has announced the signing of two student-athletes to continue their golf careers at CSUN.
The duo of Moanikeala "Moani" Finau and Ashley Han are the first signings in CSUN's 2026-27 women's golf class.
"I am very excited to welcome another class to the team," said Winkler. "Both incoming freshmen are SoCal natives and have played together or competed against each other in the same junior events. We are going to be a young team these next few years, and I know these freshmen are going to set the bar very high for our future Matadors!"
Finau, a native of Walnut, Calif., is a freshman from Diamond Bar High School. Finau won the CIF Southern Section Individual Girls Golf Championship in 2025 after shooting a 6-under 66 featuring seven birdies. Playing for the Brahmas and head coach Robert Garcia, Finau's numerous accolades included CIF first-team honors (2023-24, 2025-26), CIF second-team honors (2024-25), Rookie of the Year (2023-24), Most Inspirational Player (2025-26), 3D Player  - Desire, Dedication, Determination (2025-26), and team captain. She has also competed actively on the SCPGA Junior Tour.
"I found Moani coincidentally during a recruiting trip last summer and have been itching to coach her ever since," Winkler said. "She is someone who is so naturally athletic and talented. I already know she will improve during her time at CSUN because she is also very coachable and curious - a combination that creates a high ceiling for any athlete."
Han is a fellow freshman from Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, Calif. A native of Stanton, Calif., she earned Sunset League Most Valuable Player honors in 2025-26, and was selected to the Press-Telegram Girls Golf Dream Team following her junior season in 2024-25. Han's other accolades include MVP (2023-24) and Rookie of the Year (2022-23). Han also built a strong junior resume on the Future Champions Golf (FCG) Tour, capturing four tournament wins and finishing in the top-3 five times. She shot an impressive 7-under par at the IMG Junior World Qualifier held at Morongo Tukwet Canyon. She also earned a third-place finish at the Toyota Tour Cup Summer event.
"Ashley committed very early on in the recruiting process, so it feels like it has taken forever to welcome her to campus," said Winkler. "Ashley is such a fierce competitor - she executes her process so professionally with very steady emotions. I was blown away by her maturity and golf IQ as a junior golfer, and I know she will represent us well both on and off the golf course."
The Matadors are set to open the 2026-27 season on Sept. 14 at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
