Jeff Crelling was named Director of Sports Performance in August of 2013. His role is to oversee all aspects of athletic performance enhancement for CSUN's 19 intercollegiate sports. In addition to managing budget, facilities, and staff development, his primary responsibilities include developing and implementing sports performance programs for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, softball, and women’s tennis.  Crelling initially joined the CSUN sports performance staff in November, 2010 as the Assistant Sports Performance Coach.Â
Prior to joining the Matadors, Crelling was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of California, Davis, where he developed speed, strength and conditioning programs for five NCAA Division I teams.
Crelling received his Masters degree in physical education from the University of Nebraska (Omaha) where he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach, and received his Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University where he served his internship for two years.
Crelling holds his strength and conditioning specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and his USA weightlifting certification.
