Jordon Twohig was promoted to associate head coach in 2018-19. Twohig has spent the past five seasons as a member of baseball staff including four years as the team's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2014-17.
This past season, Twohig helped the Matadors in an administrative capacity, focusing on fundraising efforts for the Baseball Stadium Renovation Project.
Twohig has been a large part of a four-year span at CSUN that has seen 120 total wins and more Big West Conference wins (44) than any other four year block in CSUN history.
Twohig ran the Matadors' offense in his four years in the dugout. CSUN's production at the plate improved in every season over that span as the Matadors finished in the top three in the Big West Conference in doubles, home runs, extra base hits and slugging percentage by the 2017 campaign. The Matadors continued that improvement this past season with CSUN leading the Big West in home runs, extra base hits, total bases and slugging.
As the team's recruiting coordinator, Twohig's presence with the team has been felt since stepping on campus. Twohig helped recruit two classes that were ranked in the Top 40 in the nation according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He has also been recognized as one of the Top 30 assistant coaches in the country at the Surefire Conference sponsored by D1Baseball.com and the College Baseball Foundation last January in College Station, Texas.
The Matadors have continued to build a winning baseball program in Twohig's tenure with the team. In 2015 and 2016, he helped orchestrate back-to-back 33-win campaigns. The 66 victories were the most wins for the program since 2001-02. Twohig also helped the Matadors post over 90 Division I victories over a three-year span for just the second time in team history (2015-17).
Twohig has a good history of developing players on the field. During his time with the Matadors, nine players have been drafted by Major League teams while a total of 13 have signed professional contracts. Off the field, the Matadors have broken records in the classroom with a team grade point average of 3.05 last fall, the highest average in the history of the program.
In his 13 years of coaching, 49 players have been drafted with five playing major league baseball. Nine more players have signed free agent contracts to professional teams.
“If there's a more relentless and caring coach in the country I hope to meet him one day,” said head coach Greg Moore about Twohig. “Coach Twohig had been at CSUN as long as I have, and has made as big an impact as anyone on our campus. He's a true teacher.”
Prior to CSUN, Twohig spent three seasons at the University of Washington. While at the UW, Twohig aided in the program’s recruiting and academic efforts off the field. In 2011. Twohig assisted in amassing a nationally recognized recruiting class for Washington (30th), according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. This class included seven players who were selected in the 2014 MLB draft in June. On the field, Twohig assisted in the hitting efforts, coached third base, and instructed the Husky outfielders. Five of those outfielders earned All-Pac 12 honors, in his time in Seattle. In 2013, the Huskies recorded the highest team GPA (3.0) in the program’s history.
Twohig came to the University of Washington after leading Ohlone College, in Fremont, CA, to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship in 2010. The title win was the first state championship in Ohlone College history in any team sport. Twohig’s 2010 team went 37-10 overall, and were 20-5 in Coast Conference play. Ohlone College finished the year ranked third in the nation according to Perfect Game USA's junior college poll. Twohig was honored as the 2010 ABCA Diamond/National Coach of the Year. Ohlone also boasted eight all-conference players, including two All-American selections, the state's pitcher of the year and three players who were selected in the Major League Draft. The Renegades hit .314 overall, and finished in the Top 10 in every major offensive category including second in home runs.
In 2009, Twohig, then age 29, guided the Renegades to their first league title in 18 years and a trip to the state super-regionals in his first season as a head coach. Twohig was named the Coast Conference Coach of the Year while the team finished ranked No. 19 in the nation, notching eight First Team All-League selections. The Renegades hit .328 as a team, and finished in the Top 5 in California in home runs, RBI, stolen bases, hits and doubles.
In his three seasons at Ohlone, Twohig guided the Renegades to a 94-43 record, winning two regional championships, a super-regional championship and a state title while helping bolster a team GPA of 3.2. A total of 41 players moved onto to 4-year schools in that time. He spent the 2007-08 season as the Associate Head Coach, and recruiting coordinator at Ohlone before taking over as Head Coach in 2008.
Twohig also served as an assistant coach at St. Mary's College of California in the West Coast Conference for two seasons. He began his coaching career in 2003 as an assistant coach at Feather River Community College in Quincy, CA.
Twohig played his college ball first at Feather River CC as an outfielder before earning a full scholarship to Bellevue University (Omaha, NE). He finished up his career with York College of Nebraska where he hit .363 with seven home runs and 61 RBI as a senior in 2003. In both 2002 and 2003, York reached the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and Twohig was named to the All-Conference team both seasons while earning Academic All-American honors in 2002 with a 4.0 GPA.
Twohig earned his bachelor’s degree, with honors, in education with an emphasis in secondary education from York College in 2003. He completed his master’s degree in sports administration from United State Sports Academy in 2004.
He is married to the former Nicole Faubion. The couple has one son, Austin, and resides in Porter Ranch, CA.
