Yassi Raz begins his eighth season as a member of the CSUN men’s soccer coaching staff in 2012. Raz assists head coach Terry Davila with all aspects of the game.
Raz joined the Matador staff in 2005 after completing one of the most storied four-year careers in CSUN men’s soccer history. Raz All-Big West Conference first-team honors in each season, becoming the first player in league history to receive first-team honors all four years.
The midfielder came out of the gates flying as a freshman, netting seven goals and two assists for 16 points in being named Big West Freshman of the Year. His career-best season came in 2002 when the sophomore led the team with 11 assists and 25 points, also equaling his goal total from his freshman campaign.
As a junior, Raz found the net five times and added seven assists for 17 goals while totaling three goals and a team-best eight assists for 14 points.
Missing only one match in four seasons at Northridge, Raz collected 22 goals and 28 assists for 72 points. The 28 assists rank him fifth all-time CSUN career list. He is eighth in career points and matches played with 78.
Raz performed just as well off the field as he did on, receiving, Academic All-Conference honors in each year he was eligible for the award. He was also named CSUN’s Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2002.
Raz graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in business and earned his master’s in recreation and tourism management in 2010.
