Eleazar Hernandez joined the CSUN Track and Field Staff prior to the start of the 2013 cross country season. An accomplished coach and runner, Hernandez will work directly with the Matadors' cross country and distrance running programs.

In 2014, Hernandez worked with CSUN runner Elizabeth Nelson, who produced a third-place finish at the Big West Championships.

Prior to his time at CSUN, Hernandez spent 12 years as an assistant distance coach for both the men's and women's program at Moorpark College. In 2011, he helped guide the team to a third-place finish at the State Championships. The men's team won the Western State Conference title eight-straight years during Hernandez's tenure.

Hernandez ran at both the University of Hawai'i-Hilo and Morrpark College. He graduated with a BA in Sociology from Hawai'i-Hilo in 2002.
