CSUN Track & Field Heads to Reno for MPSF Indoor Championships

RENO, Nev.---The CSUN Track & Field teams embark on the 2026 MPSF Indoor Championships, held from March 1-2 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev. Both days of the conference championship will stream live at RunnerSpace.com.

The Matadors are 1-of-14 schools competing in the championship, which also includes Cal State Fullerton, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, San Francisco, St. Mary's, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and Washington State.Â
Sunday begins at 2:30 p.m. with field events followed by track events at 3:00 p.m. Monday kicks off with track events at 9:00 a.m. while field events start at 9:30 a.m.Â
CSUN will send the following men's student-athletes to Reno: Thomas Achten, Matthew Browner, Layne Buck, Isaiah Butler, Tylor Connelly, Cesar Cuevas, Adam Divinity, Tui Edwin, Daniel Harper, Caleb Harrell, Elijah Ignacio, Francisco Isiordia, Gabe Martinez, Tibyasa Matovu, Walter Pierce, Ja'Patrick Smith, Jayden Smith, Elijah Stenberg, Raul Verges and Terence Williams.
The Matador women will be represented by the following: Lilit Arakelyan, Hannah Bridge, Amani Britton, Savannah Ganter, Serena Grace, Camryn Harris, Emily Hutchinson, Ami Jacobson, Makyla Jones, Myli Level, Jayden Lopes, Trystin Mitchell, Ashleigh Porter, Amaya Rice, Naomi Sachs, Katherine Shipp-Davis, Chandler Smith, Simone Smith, Brianna Torres and Brianna Wells.Â
A LOOK BACK AT 2025
CSUN finished last year's MPSF Indoor Championships with individual title victories in the men's 400m and the men's weight throw. Tibyasa Matovu took home the 400m title, setting a school indoor record of 46.80. His 400m title win was CSUN's third consecutive in the event at the MPSF Championships. Graduating senior Trey Knight won his second straight weight throw title at the 2025 event as well, tossing at 23.26m (76-3.75). A total of eight across the CSUN men's and women's teams reached the podium over the two-day championship.Â
Overall, the CSUN men were fifth with 81 team points while the women took ninth place at 29.5 team points.Â
