John Baker appeared in 24 matches, starting 10 as a junior ...finished fourth on the team with 161 kills and was also fourth, averaging 2.48 kills per game ... hit a career-high .277 in 361attacks ... also added 65 digs (1.00 dpg), 36 blocks (0.55 bpg) and11 aces ... heads into his senior season with 425 career kills(2.26 kpg) while hitting .235 ... notched double figures in kills seven times including a season and career-high 20 kills at No. 5Stanford (Apr. 7) ... hit .457 against the Cardinal in 35 swings... hit a season-high .500 with 11 kills in 20 attacks in CSUN's3-0 win at No. 11 UC San Diego (Feb. 24) ... recorded his only double-double of the season with 16 kills and 11 digs in the Matadors' five-set win over No. 15 UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 29).
2011
Baker appeared in 22 matches earning five starts during his sophomore season ... posted 68 kills in 50 sets for a 1.36 kpg average ... wound up hitting .188 in 176 attempts while also adding40 digs (0.80 dpg), nine aces (0.18 sapg) and 13 total blocks (0.26bpg) ... had season-high's of 15 kills in 30 swings at Pepperdine (Jan. 15) ... also posted a season-high 3.0 blocks against the Waves ... came off the bench to match his career-high with three aces against UC Irvine at the Santa Barbara Invitational (Jan. 8)... also had a season-high six digs against the Anteaters.
2010
Appeared in 27 matches playing in 73 sets as a redshirt freshman... came on midway through the season to claim the starting opposite/right side hitter position ... appeared in nine of the first 16 matches of the season off the bench .... finished sixth on the team in kills with 196 and was fifth in kills per game at 2.68... ranked sixth in points with 231.5 ... added 14 aces (0.19sapg), 95 digs (1.30 dpg) and 39 blocks (0.53 bpg) ... knocked down a career-high 19 kills at top-ranked Pepperdine (Feb. 26), the eighth-best single-match total by a Matador hitter in 2010 ... also took a season-high 45 swings against the Waves ... earned his first collegiate start and notched his first double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs at No. 6 USC (Feb. 24) ... recorded double figures in kills in 10 of the final 18 matches of the season ... had 15 kills while hitting .250 in the MPSF Tournament semifinal win over BYU(Apr. 29) ... hit a career-high .667 with 17 kills in 24 swings with one error against Pacific (Apr. 3) ... added five kills in 15 swings against Penn State in the NCAA Tournament (May 6).
