Following a historic 2025 season where he helped guide the Matadors to the Big West regular season championship, Kevin Pineda was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the CSUN Women's Soccer program. Overall, Pineda is in his third season with the Matadors.
Â
Pineda brings a wealth of high-level coaching, scouting, and analytical experience spanning the collegiate, professional, and national levels. In addition to his on-field coaching and recruiting duties, Pineda oversees the program's performance analysis department, modernizing CSUN's approach to athletic tracking, integration, and tactical preparation.
Â
Pineda helped CSUN reach the top of the Big West in his season year with the program in 2025, winning the program’s first regular season conference title in nine seasons and second overall. CSUN went 6-1-3 in Big West play and earn the No. 1 seed in the Big West Championship, returning to the conference tournament for the first time since 2019. The Matadors also finished 8-7-5 overall, posting the program’s first winning season in six years.
Â
In Pineda's first season on staff, he helped orchestrate a four-win improvement in 2024, with CSUN playing for a postseason berth until the final day of the regular season. The team also recorded the program's most overall and conference wins since 2019. Throughout his tenure, Pineda has been instrumental in cultivating a highly competitive team culture centered on a strong work ethic and shared purpose.
Â
Before he arrived at CSUN, Pineda served as a Performance Analyst with Seattle Reign FC, a role that mirrored his high-level analytical work within the U.S. Youth National Team (USYNT) system. At the Reign, he focused on comprehensive performance metrics and tactical planning, contributing significantly to the team's overarching strategy. He originally joined the club working closely with head coach Laura Harvey. During his time in Seattle, the Reign won the NWSL Shield in 2022 and appeared in the NWSL Championship in 2023.
Â
Previously, Pineda spent four seasons at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), taking on pivotal roles within the coaching staff. He began his stint with the Lions as the Director of Operations in the fall of 2019 before being elevated to volunteer assistant coach, and ultimately, Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach. With the Lions, Pineda managed multiple facets of a Division I program, including recruiting, coaching, scouting, analysis, and marketing.
Â
Extensively connected within the Southern California soccer landscape, Pineda possesses a profound understanding of the region's elite talent pool. His comprehensive club coaching resume features impactful tenures with PV Exiles, LA Galaxy South Bay, Beach FC, and, currently, Fram. During his time in the South Bay, he played a vital role in developing top-tier youth talent for the next level. His developmental experience also includes serving as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Harbor College women's soccer team and completing stints as a Varsity coach at Torrance High School.
Â
Pineda graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Sociology and holds a USSF B coaching license.
