Isaiah Thompson began his appointment as Director of Development for CSUN Athletics in January of 2024.
A former collegiate student-athlete at UC Irvine, Thompson comes to the Valley after spending the last six years as the Executive Director of Inter Tribal Sports, Inc. in San Diego, Calif. The mission of the organization is unifying tribal youth and communities through structured athletic programs while providing necessary resources and developing a strong foundation in culture, leadership, and wellness.
From 2017 to 2023, Thompson provided leadership and oversight of all aspects of the organization, which included developing a strategic plan to advance the organization's mission while working directly with the Board of Directors, participating Tribes, and funding entities to ensure success. He was also tasked with building productive relationships with industry partners to promote participation, delinquency prevention, financial stability, and growth as an organization. Finally, Thompson oversaw the organization to ensure efficiency, quality service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Collegiately, Thompson was a two-sport standout in both cross country and track and field at UC Irvine, earning letters from 2013-17.
As a member of the Anteaters' cross country team, Thompson was named Big West Freshman of The Year in 2013 while also earning All-Big West honors on two occasions. He was also a two-time Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week recipient while winning the individual championship at the Vanguard Invitational.
Thompson also ran track at UCI where he was a three-time All-Big West honoree and an NCAA West Preliminary qualifier in the 800m.
Thompson is Kumeyaay from the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. He was born and raised on the San Pasqual reservation, which is located in San Diego.
