Paul Koss enters his second season as a pitching coach to the CSUN Baseball program in 2026-27.
In his first season in Northridge, Koss helped coach the Matadors to a 10-win improvement from the season before. CSUN's pitching staff lowered its season earned run average from the season before by three runs under Koss' tutelage. The staff also finished eighth in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings (3.14). Koss would also mentor freshman closer James Voorhies to All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades.
Koss was previously an assistant coach at California Baptist University in 2024-25 where he worked with the team's pitchers and catchers. He helped lead the Lancers to a school record in strikeouts and also led the WAC in strikeouts.
Prior to CBU, Koss served as the head coach of Colorado Christian University from 2019-24. During his tenure, he led the team to its first-ever appearances in the conference tournament in both 2021 and 2023, achieving the highest conference winning percentage in school history. Koss coached Colorado Christian's first All-American, Wyatt Crenshaw, in 2022.
From 2017 to 2019, Koss was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Colorado Christian, where he helped the team achieve its lowest ERA in school history in 2018.
Koss graduated from Orange Lutheran High School in 2003 before playing collegiate baseball at the University of Southern California (USC) from 2004 to 2007. He finished his career second in career saves (36) and career appearances (101), as well as second in single-season saves (16). In 2006, he was selected as a Cape Cod League All-Star. Drafted in the 11th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007, Koss played six years of professional baseball, reaching the Double-A level and making the California League All-Star team in 2008.
Koss has been married to his wife, Ellen, for six years and their daughter Evie will be one in December 2025.
