Scott Cutley enters his fourth season as assistant coach to the CSUN Men's Basketball team in 2026-27.

Cutley has helped the Matadors record 61 wins in his first three seasons on the sidelines, the most for the program over a three-year stretch in its Division I history.

CSUN is coming off a second-straight 20-win season in 2025-26 as the Matadors finished tied for third place in the Big West standings with a 12-8 conference mark. The Matadors would advance to the Big West tournament semifinals as well for the first time since 2014 after CSUN knocked off UC San Diego in the second round. The team also won seven straight league games during the year, tying the school's Division I record.

For the third straight season, CSUN led the Big West in rebounding in 2025-26 while the Matadors finished the year ranked seventh in the nation in rebounds per game (41.4).

Cutley's second season with the Matadors would be a historic one with CSUN tying a school record for wins by going 22-11. The 2024-25 season saw CSUN reach 20-plus wins for the first time since 2007-08. CSUN achieved its most conference wins in school history (14) and its most road wins in team history (10) during the year. The Matadors also reached another milestone by competing in the National Invitational Tournament for the first time in program history.

In 2024-25, the Matadors led the Big West for the second straight season in rebounding, ranking 12th overall in the nation at 40.6. CSUN also broke the school record for rebounding margin (+8.4), which ranked ninth-best in the nation.

Cutley was a member of the most wins by a first-year coaching staff in CSUN history in 2023-24. The team's 19 wins were the program's most since the 2007-08 season while CSUN registered its first winning season in 15 seasons. Cutley would also help coach CSUN to one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation, a 12-game improvement over the previous season

Among the team's many highlights during the 2023-24 season, the Matadors knocked off UCLA at Pauley Pavilion for the program's first win over the Bruins in 23 seasons. Cutley also helped lead CSUN to its first win at the Big West tournament in 10 seasons with a thrilling overtime triumph over defending conference champion UC Santa Barbara.

Cutley joins CSUN after spending this past season on Andy Newman's coaching staff at Cal State San Bernardino. With Cutley on the sidelines, the Yotes had an historic year, posting a program-record 31 victories, breaking the school record for points and appearing in the NCAA Final Four for the first time in 16 seasons.

Prior to CSUSB, Cutley spent the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant at Cal State Fullerton. The Titans had a stellar season with Cutley on the bench, collecting 21 victories while winning the 2022 Big West Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his coaching career, Cutley played professionally for 13 seasons for teams throughout South America. Cutley won championships in Argentina and Paraguay while he was named league MVP in Chile and reached the finals in Columbia.

In his collegiate career, Cutley was a two-year standout at Cal State Fullerton from 2006-08 after transferring from Kent State. He averaged over 15 points and eight rebounds for the Titans and was named two-time Big West First Team selection. Cutley also received the Big West Player of the Year award in addition to AP All-America Honorable Mention honors after helping the Titans win the regular season and conference tournament titles in 2008.
