Bostrom Wins Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational, CSUN Fourth

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - CSUN's Rebecca Bostrom won her first collegiate tournament as the sophomore took home individual medalist honors at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational Sunday at Cypress Ridge G.C.
Bostrom, who came into the final round with a one-shot lead after a one-under 72 on Saturday, equaled that number again Sunday to finish at two-under 144 and win her first title in just her second collegiate tournament. She won by two strokes over Northern Arizona's Jacquie LeMarr who finished at even-par 146.
Bostrom's outright win is the first by a CSUN golfer this season and the first since Clariss Guce won the Fresno State Classic last March.
"Rebecca did a fantastic job today," said head coach Gina Umeck. "She played inspired golf, I can't begin to express how proud I am of her on and off the course."
Elisabeth Haavardsholm posted her first top-10 finish of the season despite a final round six-over 79. The senior was tied for fifth after a one-over 74 on Saturday but dropped into a tie for 10th at seven-over 153 for the tournament.
Cesilie Hagen made a move up the leaderboard Sunday as a final round three-over 76 moved her up from a tie for 18th into a tie for 14th at eight-over 154. Arinda Bhanaraksa moved up two spots Sunday following a round of 79 left her 29th at 13-over 159. Shenna DeLeon rounded out the CSUN lineup as she finished tied for 41st at 20-over 166 following rounds of 85-81.
Senior Sharon Shin also competed as an individual and tied for 35th at 16-over 162 following rounds of 78-84.
As a team, the Matadors were second after a first round 304 but were overtaken by Santa Clara and Cal Poly on Sunday following a team round of 306. Santa Clara jumped from third to the team title following a final round 294 while Northern Arizona was second and host Cal Poly was third in the 13-team field.
