
CSUN's Elizabeth Nelson Wins Again at Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -Â CSUN's Elizabeth Nelson continued her remarkable 2014 season as the Matador junior won her second cross country meet, the Aztec Invitational in a time of 18:46.50.
Nelson, who also won the season-opening San Francisco Invitational on Aug. 30, won the Aztec invitational in impressive fashion as she crossed the finish line in the 5k in 18:46.50. Nelson finished over 15 seconds in front of the second-place finisher as she added her second win in three races this season.
Megan Magdaleno also had an impressive race as she posted her first top-10 finish of the season. The senior ran 19:31.30 to finish sixth among 67 runners in the field. Rachael Duriez cracked the top-20 as she clocked a time of 19:48.80 to finish 12th. Also for CSUN, Kimberly Newton was 22nd in 20:11.90, Crystal Raygoza was 38th in 21:24.00 and Lupita Fausto was 40th in 21:34.30.
As a team, CSUN finished third out of eight teams compiling 71 points.
The Matador men also competed in the 8k race with Jackson Higgins finishing fourth in 28:02.70 on the 8k run. Lugardo Chavez was fifth in 28:12.60, Marcelo Rosales was 12th in 29:56.10 and Ivan Sanchez was 16th in 30:28.50.
