WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - A pair of newcomers are leading the CSUN men's golf team through two rounds of the Southwestern Intercollegiate Presented by James Kim at North Ranch Country Club.
Tim Snyder, a junior transfer from Ventura College, is the low Matador through two rounds as he fired back-to-back rounds of 73. Snyder, at four over-par 146, was tied for 23rd after his first round 73 but moved up into a tie for 17th following the afternoon round. Snyder heads into Tueaday's final round just two or three shots out of the top-10 in the 72 player field.

Varnam posted rounds of 74-75 while Ward carded a 71 followed by a 78. Ward was tied for 11th after the first round but slipped out of the top-30 with a 78 in the afternoon.
Seniors Michael O'Connor and Steven Molumby both struggled in the first round Monday with O'Connor able to bounce back with a second round 75 after an 81 in the morning round. O'Connor currently sits in a tie for 58th at 14-over 156. Molumby is 72nd at 24-over 166 following rounds of 82-84
The Matadors opened with a team round of 299 and was 10th before dropping two shots in the second round carding a 301 to slip to 11th. Stanford (572) holds the team lead through 36 holes, a total of 12 schools are competing.
"We finished horribly in the afternoon but it's our first tournament of the season," said CSUN head coach Bracken. "Tim and Joey both played well, I just hope we can put together a good final round tomorrow and move up the leaderboard."
The Matadors tee off the final round Tueaday morning beginning at 8:45 a.m.
