NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The CSUN Matadors (7-7-2, 3-4-1 Big West Conference) close out the 2015 regular season with a pair of pivotal matches in the Big West Conference South Division. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, the Matadors host the UC Riverside Highlanders on Senior Day for a 7 p.m. match at Matador Soccer Field. Then on Halloween, CSUN treks to Orange County to conclude the league campaign with a 7 p.m. fixture against the UC Irvine Anteaters. Live, Spanish-audio with Eduard Cauich and Jose Avalos calling all the action will be available for the Senior Day contest against the Highlanders and both matches will feature live stats.
At 3-4-1 and with 10 points in the Big West, the Matadors can finish anywhere from first to fourth in the South Division depending on this week's results. Last week the Matadors posted a 2-1 victory at Cal State Fullerton, scoring twice after halftime to improve to 6-0-1 in their last seven away matches.
Senior David Turcios scored the first goal in the comeback, powering a cross from fellow senior Carlos Gonzalez into the upper netting. Less than 10 minutes later, senior captain Trevor Morley successfully converted his third penalty kick attempt of the season to complete the comeback victory. However, CSUN could not sustain the momentum and lost 2-0 at home to UC Irvine on Oct. 24.
Before the match with the Highlanders, CSUN will honor its seven seniors on the 2015 roster: Benjamin Asor, Carlos Gonzalez, Adam Hobbs, Trevor Morley, Tanner Snedigar, David Turcios and Victor Vasquez. Over the course of their CSUN careers, these young men helped CSUN achieve plenty of memorable moments, including the 2012 Big West South Division and Tournament Championship. The CSUN Athletic Department would like to recognize these individuals for their outstanding accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom. They have represented the University with pride, dedication and determination and are Matadors Forever.
