"I think it was a good team effort. The times that we communicated on defense were when we really excelled," Boagni said. "I have been working on my perimeter shooting a lot, so it was nice to see that 3-pointer go in the hoop."
Guay finished with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, becoming just the second player in program history to surpass 1,600 career points. "I think there were times where we had all five players on the same page defensively and we had some good possessions. We had some mental lapses throughout the game, but there were times when we had five players competing with a purpose to stop the basketball," Flowers said.
The Matadors are off for a week before returning to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 with a home game against UC Irvine. Tip off on The Blacktop at The Matadome is slated for 4 p.m.
