CSUN Finishes 16th at Wyoming's Cowboy Classic

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The CSUN men's golf team finished up play at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic Tuesday as the Matadors carded a final round 299 to finish 16th.
Coming off a season-low round of 285 on Monday afternoon, CSUN hoped to make a move Tuesday but the 299 dropped the team three spots on the leaderboard.
"I was hoping to have a better round today; the course played a little harder but we just couldn't get anything going," said head coach Jim Bracken.
Steven Molumby led the Matadors in scoring for the fourth time this season as the senior finished in a tie for 44th at one over-par 217. Molumby followed up rounds of 74-67 on Monday with a four-over 76 on Tuesday.
Michael O'Connor had trouble following up his three-under 69 in round one as the senior posted rounds of 75-76 over the final two rounds to finish tied for 66th at four-over 220. Sam Engel was one shot behind O'Connor as he posted rounds of 75-72-74 to finish tied for 69th at five-over 221.
Dodge Ward and Tim Snyder finished with the identical total of nine-over 229 with Ward posting rounds of 78-71-76 and Snyder 76-76-73.
CSUN also had two individuals competing as Aden Louez tied for 84th at 11-over 227 (76-76-75) and Conrad White tied for 93rd at 16-over 232 (72-79-81).
Asked what his team needs to work on with one tournament remaining before the Big West Championship tees off in three weeks, Bracken said "We're going to work a lot on our short game. Our wedge play wasn't very good today and we're missing greens from 100 yards out. We'll work on that and get ready for Santa Barbara."
