NORTHRIDGE, CA--
Â
Jesse Delong has been named a graduate manager to the CSUN Baseball program for the upcoming 2015-16 season, head coach Greg Moore announced. Delong pitched for the San Francisco Dons during the 2013 season and graduated from the school in 2014. Â
Â
"Jesse is one of the best preparers I've ever coached," said Moore, who coached Delong at the University of San Francisco in 2013. "He's beginning a college coaching career that will be similar, I'm sure. We want coaches who are examples to our players. Coach Delong epitomizes that example in the way he works and communicates."
Â
Originally from Larkspur, CA, Delong helped the Dons advance to the WCC Baseball Championships, as well as a trip to the Eugene Regional at the 2013 NCAA Baseball Championship tournament. In 2014, the Dons honored Delong with the Most Valuable Person award.
Â
Prior to his two years with USF, Delong attended the College of Marin in Kentfield, CA, where he split time in the outfield and on the mound. During his freshman season with the Mariners, Delong received Bay Valley Conference Second Team honors. After Tommy John surgery forced him to miss the entire 2011 season, Delong rebounded with an impressive 2012 campaign. Serving his time in the outfield for his sophomore season, Delong displayed strong production at the plate, hitting .347 with six triples and a home run. For his efforts, Delong earned 2012 All-Northern California Outfielder and First Team Bay Valley Conference honors.
Â
"I am grateful to be a part of DORS Baseball for many reasons, but most importantly, I am excited about the challenge of helping the student-athletes improve in many areas every single day," said Delong about his new role as graduate manager. "I am ready to share my experience to help players improve in the classroom, on the field and in everyday life."
Â
Delong attended Marin Catholic High School before attending the College of Marin. At the University of San Francisco, Delong graduated with honors, earning a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies.Â
