Daphne Pofek and Taylor Troost Keep Redhawks off Scoreboard
STOCKTON, Calif. -- Senior Daphne Pofek delivered six innings of scoreless work and sophomore Taylor Troost picked up her second save of the weekend as the CSUN softball team (6-8) defeated Seattle 3-0 Sunday afternoon. Offensively, freshman Jessica Alexander and senior Aliyah Ricks hit solo home runs and Tara Kliebenstein added an RBI single as the Matadors closed out the weekend with four-straight wins.Â
Pofek (3-2) delivered another strong performance in the circle to record her third win of the season. She worked around six hits and two walks and recorded four strikeouts. Troost allowed one hit in relief, but it mattered not as she recorded the save.Â
For the weekend, Troost did not allow a run in 10 innings of work. She finished 1-0 with two saves and just two hits allowed for an opponent batting average of .061. Pofek was equally impressive, finishing 2-0 with a 0.88 ERA and nine strikeouts in 16 innings of work with an opponent batting average of .200.Â
Alexander went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs, a home run and a walk. She singled in the bottom of the second, moved to second on a sac bunt from Madison Fleming and scored on a single from Kliebenstein.Â
In the seventh, Alexander blasted her second home run of the season and two batters later, Ricks smashed her first career deep fly. Taylor Nate added a double and a walk and Fleming finished with two sac bunts in the victory.
CSUN remains on the road next weekend, traveling to Boise State to compete in the Spring Hill Suites Classic. The Matadors will face the host Broncos and Weber State twice and then close out the weekend with a game against Santa Clara.Â
