Final Round 285 Lifts CSUN to Fourth at Del Walker Intercollegiate

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN men's golf team posted the second lowest round of the day on Tuesday and moved up from ninth to a fourth place finish at the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club.
The Matadors followed up rounds of 295-290 on Monday with a round of 285 on Tuesday, CSUN's low for 18 holes this season.
"We finished really well today," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken. "We posted the second best round of the day, this is the kind of golf I think this team is capable of playing. We just need to keep building and continue to be more consistent."
Junior Felix Mory fired a final round three-under 67 to move up from 20th into a tie for sixth, his third top 10 finish of the season. Mory was even through the first nine holes on Tuesday before blistering the back nine with four birdies and four pars. The CSUN junior finished the tournament with rounds of 73-72-67.Â
Senior Tavit Garabedian narrowly missed matching Mory with his third top 10 finish as well but a two-over round of 72 dropped him into a tie for 11th at four-over 214. In posting his second top 20 finish of the season, Garabedian had four birdies and nine pars on Tuesday to finish with rounds of 69-73-72.
Senior Sam Engel followed up rounds of 77-70 with a final round two-over 72 to finish tied for 26th at nine-over 219. Engel matched Mory with five birdies over the final round. Trym Falch carded a final round four-over 74 to finish tied for 51st at 15-over 225 (76-75-74). Tomas Skajem, competing as an individual, tied for 63rd at 19-over 229 after posting rounds of 75-78-76, Michael Zhang finished tied for 79th at 31-over 241 following rounds of 82-75-84 and Sevian Frangipane was 83rd at 35-over 235 (80-79-86) also competing as an individual.
Boise State (855)Â won the team title by four shots over Cal Poly (859) while Brian Humphreys of Boise State won individual medalist honors with a one-under total of 209.
